Sex & Nudity

  • In an episode from Season 5, Booth and Brennan wander in the forest to find a group of women as witches, who are in the middle of the Waning Moon ceremony in front of the fire. Eventually, The women all take off their robes, much to the surprise of Booth.
  • In one episode of Season 6, Daisy and Sweets were having sex on a couch naked only to be discovered by Booth and Brennan, much to the embarrassment of Sweets.
  • This show contains a fair amount of sexual references, both verbal as well as occasionally visual. Two of the characters are involved intimately through at least a season, and are occasionally shown thrashing about under the sheets. One of the characters speaks freely and frequently of her sex life. Nearly every episode has some sort of sexual situation or comment.
  • Main character has no problem with casual sexual relationships without emotional attachment (very few incidents throughout the seasons). She also speaks freely of sex, body parts, and other sexual things that may be offensive.
  • An episode depicts a scene involving two characters (a man and a woman) entering a strip club where the man is given a lap dance where he is uncomfortable yet the woman appears to be quite aroused and entertained. Many woman are seen in Bars and skimpy outfits.

Violence & Gore

  • Almost every episode has a decomposing body shown. Not for squeamish
  • Many decomposed bodies, lots of blood. This show is not for the squeamish.
  • The main character has a mummy in her office.
  • Every episode shows some kind of dead body/body parts. Bones, internal organs, flesh, skulls, limbs, fingers and toes are graphically displayed. Some episodes portray autopsies which involve body's or organs being cut open and occasionally faces being sliced into and peeled from the bones.
  • Some gunshots in some episodes.
  • Other gory moments like a man sewing his face or a woman covered in blood.

Profanity

  • A fair amount of son of a bitch, ass, damn, bastard and hell.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Numerous episodes contain social drinking. Some episodes contain references to drug use, but it never glorifies it.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Skulls and other body parts suddenly appearing from places one does not expect can be frightening.
  • Gory and violent depictions of dead bodies and fight sequences. More disturbing than frightening, though.
  • Some episodes have a slightly supernatural undertone which never seems to be fully resolved. For example "The Headless Witch in the Woods" 2x10 takes on a very Blair Witch like theme. It revolves around three students making a film project looking for a Headless Witch Ghost in the woods of Maryland. It turns out that the victim was not murdered by a witch but the whole episode is very creepy and never really concludes there was no witch.
  • The third season all revolves around a cannabalistic serial killer and the whole idea of it is very unsettling.
  • Episodes containing Howie Epps can be disturbing as he kills his victims in very violent ways such as beheading them while they are alive.
  • Recent series include a man called Pelant who does very creepy and weird things such as hiding dead body's above the doctors beds in their homes, breaking into people's houses and holding their children and other disturbung things.
