Fox Sports has released what it claims is a “completely redesigned” app for livestreaming games, real-time scores, breaking news and more — timed for the debut of Major League Baseball’s delayed 2020 season.
The app’s overhaul has been in the works for nearly two years, and Fox Sports decided to introduce the new version once sports leagues were ready to resume play after Covid-19 suspensions, said David Katz, EVP and head of digital. The relaunch comes ahead of Fox’s first-ever quadruple Mlb header Saturday, July 25.
Katz, a longtime digital media exec who joined Fox Sports two years ago, said that after he started with the company he had “some strong conversations with my bosses about where we were as a product in the sports space and where we’d like to go.” His team conducted research about what sports fans wanted to determine “pain points with existing sites and apps,...

Caffeine, a streaming platform that predominantly operates in the gaming sphere -- and thus serves as a competitor to the likes of Twitch, Mixer, YouTube Gaming, and Facebook Gaming -- has inked a partnership with rapper Drake.
Drake, for his part, has made known his love of gaming, in a record-breaking stream with Fortnite ace Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins, as well as an investment in esports org 100 Thieves.
Caffeine and Drake’s multi-year partnership will see the streamer co-produce a series alongside Ultimate Rap League (URL) -- a battle rap league based out of New York and overseen by hip hop promoter Troy 'Smack' Mitchell. The deal will bring more Drake-curated live content to Caffeine, the company said, and he will also launch a personal channel on the platform. The URL series will be available to Caffeine viewers for free.

Migos’ Offset will host a weekly show starting Sunday in which the rapper will livestream himself playing Call of Duty and other fan-suggested video games. He’s also signed on for a second show involving “high-stakes competitions” with celebrity guests. Both are exclusive partnerships with video-streaming startup Caffeine, which made noise last year when it raised $46 million in two funding rounds and took on a $100 million investment from 21st Century Fox.

Mac (Gary Sinise) comes into his usual coffeeshop for breakfast and comments on the woman's new boyfriend. He orders what we think is the usual, oatmeal, raisins and maple syrup. A woman talks to Mac, he's an oatmeal person. The waitress, Amy (Emily Harrison) accidentally drops a plate of bacon on the floor and a man holds a gun behind a newspaper. Another man pulls a gun and is shot, so is Amy. Mac helps her. Mac: "Save it for your new boyfriend, Amy, you're gonna tell him about how you survived all this. "Flack: (Eddie Cahill) "I'm never gonna get a better eye witness account than this." Mac recalls there were three shots fired, first ricocheted off the metal chair, which Danny (Carmine Giovinazzo) finds went through the pastry tray and into the wall. The second hit Amy and the third hit the man. There are prints on the phone.

It has been a confusing day on the "Captain America" casting front with one of the previously rumoured contenders moving to the forefront and then later being shot down.
In the morning Fox 411 apparently confirmed an old Cinematical scoop that it is "very likely" that "The Office" star John Krasinski will be the new Steve Rogers as "he is a favorite among the key decision makers and has been asked to come back for more this week". Krasinski has already read for the role four times and screen tested twice with the multiple actresses up for the female leads to ensure chemistry.
Hold on though, now Deadline New York and later Heat Vision both reports that Marvel Studios has expanded its search while at the same time cutting down on the original candidates list which apparently does not include Krasinski in the new short list. The names that are still...

Jennifer Love Hewitt is making her way back to the big screen! The gorgeous 30-year-old actress has been absent from starring roles since Garfield in 2004 and its sequel in 2006. Love Hewitt has joined the cast of the film Cafe, an indie ensemble drama from writer-director Marc Erlbaum (via THR). Also a part of the ensemble cast are Jamie Kennedy, Alexa Vega, Madeline Carroll, Daniel Eric Gold and Hubble Palmer. The film is about a group of Philadelphia residents who frequent the local West Philly Grounds coffee shop where Hewitt's character Claire works. Shooting already started earlier this month in Philadelphia. This doesn't exactly sound like the greatest project for Jennifer Love Hewitt to return with, but at least it's not a comedy. The reason why I mention that is that this already reminds me of a film called Caffeine, which starred Mena Suvari and was pretty much a terribly ...
