Worthwhile vignette porn, short on stories
I like the concept of short-story porn, and Private's quality control results in excellent sex content here, well worth the revival from VHS to DVD. Lack of interesting set-ups is a drawback, however.
IMDb's credits seem garbled, so I will attempt to reflect what's on screen. Title episode running 17 minutes is spoken in French, with star Jean-Yves Le Castel readily recognizable. He and a pal (Alain Deloin -don't like that stage name tampering with a legend) walk into the woods where a luscious damsel in the form of Krisztina Schwartz awaits. The guys are bright enough to bring a packed-up bed spread with them, so the outdoor three-way looks comfortable. Right through to her dual facials, KS is merry and flashing a winning smile throughout, making for a highly entertaining vignette, worthy of its marquee status here.
There is no d.p. for KS, but that is rectified (pun intended) in the final segment titled "The Landlords", filmed in Mexico but might as well have been shot in Brooklyn. Tracy Love, speaking in English with no accent is browbeaten by her two long-haired guys collecting the rent, so she pays by servicing them. Photography is excellent for capturing sexual detail, as in the climactic d.p. closeups.
The other three segments are more of a wham-bam nature, with minimal if any prelude to sex and hardly any dialog to speak of. Leadoff "After Hours" is a one- joke premise, filmed in Sweden, as a barman closing up his pub sees the inevitable femme portrait behind the bar come alive (no SPFX, it's alive all the way) and makes love to the beauty from inside. She's Karoline, her generic name not in the IMDb credits, but an impressively natural beauty who delivers anal sex and is well-spotlighted so the viewer is likely to wonder who she is and where can she be seen in a feature film?
"Hot Cabin" is rather lame except for its XXX content. Eva Falk is credited on screen as the lead, a sexy woman who grabs a guy out of the hall and thrusts him into her claustrophobic cabin on what may be an ocean liner (there are no establishing shots, in this rush to get on with the main event). Her sexy stockings and high heels as costume define this vignette, pretty much generic porn.
Departing a bit is "DJ's Delight", a relatively brief 11-minute 3-way on the disco dance floor as a disk jockey humps a beautiful brunette and a pixie redhead, with some lesbian cunnilingus thrown in, along with masturbation by the odd girl out.
Missing in action in the 73-minute DVD I watched, compared to IMDb's roster, were Tunde and Veronique (I'm assuming the Eva listed is Eva Falk), and Donald Hatrcher as a landlord was not American star Steve Hatcher.
