Heartbreaking & necessary. Beautifully done film. Watch it and talk about it .

Touching fictional film concerning the historically accurate tragedy of the Rawandan genocide. "Sometimes in April" is successful in its mission, while its theme and plot of this story are of a highly realistic, terrifying nature as well as a sad, sense of the pointlessness of warfare. The acting and directing in the locations bring the genocide directly to your eyes; it is chilling and heartbreaking. I would encourage anyone interested in this subject, or in the area of the Holocaust or genocide and war atrocities, to view "Sometimes in April" for its writing, acting, realism, and painfully accurate display of violence. The film depicts clearly the multitude and irreversible aftereffects of the Rawandan genocide and some of the victims that survived. After seeing this film, I concluded that violence and genocide really have no true "survivors, only "differently maimed individuals" who did not yet die and go on existing. I cannot state I "enjoyed" viewing this film, as it was not entertaining or relaxing to view. "Sometimes in April" is more than an education, it is an experience in empathy, rage, and fear, all wondering in the end how one can possibly ever forgive for such actions.

I feel I am a stronger and better educated person on this horror, and all inhumane acts, as a result of this film's writing, acting, and overall excellence. I recommend it highly. Do not count on wanting to snack while you watch it. I was grateful I had not eaten. See it; its a great film. Kristin Von Jeney
