I am glad that virtually all Girlfriends Films titles remain in print 13 years after the label debuted, but the earlier titles are sometimes a bit primitive or quaint by today's standards. This second volume of the popular "Seductions" series has its moments but does show serious dating.
Its theme, perhaps a bit repetitious over the course of three similar vignettes, is experimentation, as a much older woman encourages a nubile young girl to spread her wings, in a lesbian fashion. Opening segment is a classic in this vein, as the irresistible Brianna Love, who won me over in a showcase performance in the very first edition of "Road Queen" for the label, is patiently taught the ways of Sappho by kindly old Autum Moon, who here gets her first name spelled normally as Autumn early in her career. The duo went through the same content but a different scene in volume 1 of "Seductions" but Brianna's acting is so good one is convinced all over again that she is naive and virginal. As in Volume 1, their relationship is not spelled out, evidently landlady and boarder rather than mom & daughter but the viewer is left to make up his or her mind on that subject.
Second vignette is a bummer, as way back when Girlfriends was still experimenting with pro/am content, probably to test its audience as to preference. Teresa, whose only video this is, brings nothing to the party -she's unattractive, frumpy and frankly cast merely to be old, so that cute star Mysti can literally dominate the entire half hour. Not being a woman, let alone an old woman for that matter, I could not identify with this vox populi choice of casting and would have preferred a talented performer from porno central casting.
Finale brings two superstars together on a pretext: squirt queen (but on her best behavior, remaining dry throughout) Cytherea is visiting a friend Jen, but she ain't home, so the great Nicole Moore entertains her while she waits. Nicole is quite aggressive in escalating almost immediately from small talk to sex, and Cytherea's shy act just isn't convincing, she being such a familiar icon by now. Even back then, she had taken on all comers, even Mandingo, with more boy/girl credits than most lesbian performers, so the "I'm so innocent" routine is a non- starter here.
Production values are not yet up to snuff, as the lengthy bedroom scenes take place in bedrooms devoid of interesting detail -strictly generic visually. Girlfriends would soon hit its stride, and these historical artifacts remain worth watching.
