Our family L O V E S Signing Time.
Our 2 year old son giggles, responds to Rachel, and proudly shows us each sign. He begs to see ST everyday ("Mom! My sighny-sime peas? Yes?"). The ST stars (Alex and Leah and Rachel) are his friends. My 8 year old niece asks to see ST every time she visits.
Sometimes it is hard to keep a child's attention (especially our son - he is all boy!), but Rachel has mastered the art of spellbinding children. She makes each child feel that she is talking directly to them and they see that she is genuinely interested in them - kind of like Mister Rogers. The beat and the pace are perfect. I like the different styles of music. It leaves you feeling very happy or content. Rachel keeps things going very well with her energy and by including her viewers ("can you sign
?", "Now it's your turn
" etc).
I like the format and the animation.
We have Signing Time volumes 1-6 and the Baby Signing Time volumes 1-2. We are eagerly awaiting the next set of Signing Time to be released.
We started signing with our son when he was 9 months old by using these videos. They have helped us effectively communicate with him earlier and have also reinforced many of the values we teach at home (being kind, using manners, etc). It has also helped reinforce everyday learning and helped him with logic and association (he hears it, sees it, signs it...). The videos are appropriate for children of all ages and abilities.
You will notice differences in each volume, as things are mastered and perfected. Each volume is better than the previous. I would not miss out on anything...we love every single volume of Signing Time, and they are all regular requests at our house.
Again, we are so pleased with Signing Time that we recommend it to anyone and everyone!
