Jacobo Zabludovsky coined catch phrases to introduce many of the show's sections and collaborations. These phrases became part of the Mexican pop culture of the time because of the importance of the program.
Many important Mexican TV journalists of the XXth century started their careers or grew in fame and importance collaborating for this show. For some time in its first years it featured a cartoonist named Vic. On a window pane he drew very quickly a cartoon about some newsworthy topic of the day. Unfortunately Vic died too young; he was not replaced by other cartoonist. Many years later, when computers made it possible, cartoonists Iracheta and Paco Calderon tried short animations, but when the audience was no longer surprised by its technological prowess, their section was cancelled.
The 24 Horas producers created a network of correspondents in the United States, Europe and Israel that years later would evolve to the ECO network, Mexico's Televisa version of CNN that lasted one decade. Some names of correspondents: Jesus Hermida, Alberto Pelaez, Valentina Alazraki, Guillermo Cheswell, Aniceto Menendez, Erika Vexler.
The 1985 9/19 morning killer earthquake in Mexico City destroyed many buildings; it also severely damaged the Televisa Chapultepec studios, toppling a transmission tower and getting the TV channels off the air. Jacobo Zabludovsky reported the disaster on the radio using his car phone. When he drove by the building where 24 Horas and the news division was installed, his suddenly trembling voice could not hide the shock. It was now a pile of rubble (and he understood many of his friends had died inside.) Televisa found a way to broadcast that night from its San Angel studios. Jacobo ended his saddest 24 Horas newscast trying to find strength with words from Gone With the Wind: "Tomorrow is another day."
