Female victims were named for movie characters from other horror films; Nancy Thompson from Nightmare on Elm St.; Maureen Prescott from Scream.
Town named in the movie is Haddonfield which was added because the Director is a huge Halloween fan.
To get the blood to fly across the screen they used a Tupperware drink box with a straw attachment and squeezed the container to squirt the fake blood.
The finger that flies across the screen was tossed back and forth over the camera like tossing a ball between the key grip and DP several times to capture the right motion.
The photos of Maureen were taken while keeping pace with the car driving 70 miles an hour on I270 in Columbus Ohio. For Safety they did this at 2am when traffic would be at a minimum.
