This is the second love triangle between Ajay Devgn and Salman Khan since Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999).
Director Rajkumar Santoshi conceived this project a decade before it finally started production, with Aamir Khan in the role of Manu and 'Shahrukh Khan' in the role of Arjun, it was originally titles 'Rashque' but neither of them took interest in the project.
The word "khanabadosh" is Persian for "gypsy" or "nomad." This refers to the members of London Dreams having traveled from another land (Manu and Arjun came from Punjab and the brothers came from Pakistan).
