"I will not say something other than what I mean"
TBJCSKCNRRQTreviews20 February 2010
This is the shorter of the two featurettes on the 2-Disc Edition DVD of Manderlay that have their own pages here on the site, with a running time of 29 and a half minutes, or nearly half an hour. It consists of interviews and footage from Cannes, and is, as I'm sure you've already deduced, about how it was to go there with the film, and how it went. Even if you already know if they won or not, this is great for those of us who are into the trilogy in the making. It is a tad awkward to see how Trier speaking his mind in the frank, uncensored manner that he tends to during the press conferences clearly leaves Dallas Howard embarrassed(I couldn't quite tell about Glover; maybe he's had more practice at hiding what he thinks of what his director is saying to the world), or seeing Lars tolerate the continuous applause(as he puts it, you *know* that some of them are clapping just because everyone around them are doing so). This documentary does spoil parts of the movie. It is well-paced and the editing is great. There is brief strong language in this. I recommend this to anyone who wants to know about the subject. 7/10
