Basic but amusing
Dark Horse are a trio of teenagers who sit up in Aaron's bedroom strumming guitars with the ultimate aim of making it big. Despite their best intentions, their practice sessions tend to just amount to a lot of pointless chatting and arguing about various things in their future. As an idea it doesn't sound great but the script is mostly well written and convincing, producing an air of humour around their pointless ramblings that engage me and occasionally tickled me.
The voice work is good and suits the characters and their timing is good. The animation is basic, very basic, but it works well and suits the feel of the whole film. I got the feel that director Waller and writer Ramehandanl both knew what they were talking about and this experience comes through in the material. Nothing brilliant then, but amusing and quite entertaining.
