"Green Are the Leaves" is set at Sweden's Stafsholm Castle, where the ghost of Erik Kirsten is reputed to have killed five people in the same room where he died in bed. August the caretaker (Jason Lindsey, also seen in "The Girl in the Glacier" and "Murder in the Mirror") relates the tale to a TV production company setting up a midnight broadcast with the ghost. Henry Waller (John Crawford, also seen in "The Photograph") is both host and producer, assisted by Denise (Ann Wakefield) and Douglas (George Bisset), the latter deciding to secretly wait in the forbidding room for the witching hour to see the apparition for himself. At the appointed hour the broadcast is abruptly cut short by the sound of gasping, and when Waller enters the room the strangled corpse of Douglas lies in the same bed as all the previous victims. On the case is Inspector Robinson (Larry Falk, also seen in "The Vine of Death"), and for once the solution is deliciously ambiguous. Actor Jason Lindsey went on to direct one episode, "Black Nemesis."
