Excellent film noir

There are some great experiments, like the show with no dialogue, and the all Stu Bailey episode with no one else, but this one is a terrific mystery, and pretty creepy. Lots of surprises and good guest stars. As a fan of this show, this is the best episode I've seen.

Van Williams and Alan Hale Jr. are familiar. This plot is about the private eyes investigating a potential personal injury fraud lawsuit. Suzanne takes the lead role, along with Kookie. The outcome surprised me; I like to guess who the bad guys are, and even though I noticed a clue near the end, I was fooled by the twists and turns. I want to be careful not to include spoilers, so that's all I can say. If you get Warner Archives, this is the best episode to watch.

STRANGE CASE FOR JEFF AND KOOKIE.

I agree with the last reviewer, this is a bit creepy and the most original part is good guys Van Williams and Alan Hale, Jr., play bad guys! That's fun, special thanks to series writer Robert C. Dennis, long time writer for Alfred Hitchcock's tv show. It all makes sense.

If you're a tv buff, the story has the feel of a PERRY MASON episode with all the twists and turns, and some dark moments. It also gives Suzanne a much larger role for a change of pace. Suzanne goes undercover as a French heiress, trying to get the goods on shady Van Williams (as Wade). But what happens when she falls in love with the guy? Good support from Joyce Meadows as Wade's wheelchair bound sister.

Creeping in the background in Alan Hale, Jr., just before fame on GILLIGANS ISLAND. Hale plays Baxter, replete with a sly look and toothpick, who is blackmailing Wade, a tennis pro turned swindler.

Popular character actor Charles Lane plays the man who hires on Jeff and Kookie.

There's one goof if you catch it fast. As Wade is banging on the front door of his sisters's house, you could see the wall move. He does bust down the door though.

There's a terrific chase scene through the woods between Wade and Suzanne, adding to the noirish feel. Top direction by series director Paul Landres. 10 Stars for an episode that made the show so enormously popular and a part of cult tv history.

SEASON 5 EPISODE 14 remastered. Thanks to METV for running this classic series on Sunday nights. Note there are some episodes of the series on European dvd, however they will not play on American made dvd players.

The Bailey&Spencer firm is hired by Charles Lane and at his most irascible to investigate the brother and sister team of Van Williams a tennis pro and his paralyzed sister Dara Howard. They are suspected of stealing from the guests of several hotels all around the world. At one point Roger Smith calls in a favor from Tom Lopaka out in Honolulu from that other Warner Brothers detective series Hawaiian Eye.

Jacqueline Beer gets a bit to do here, she goes undercover as a rich French heiress. Williams puts the move on her as they expect, but Beer falls for him which complicates matters.

Also there's Alan Hale who has something on Williams and is blackmailing him. He's a real bottom feeder.

Fans of the series should be pleased.
