The cast from the television show Emergency! (1972) makes a cross-over guest appearance. This is somewhat ironic as the episode Hang-Up (1972), which had only aired six months prior, had established that Adam-12 (1968) was a TV show that was watched by the cast members of Emergency! (1972). However, there is no interaction between Malloy and Reed and Gage and De Soto. They just miss seeing each other coming out of treatment rooms at Rampart, perhaps intentionally.
Even though the Hang-Up (1972) (Emergency! (1972)) established this show as a show watched by that show's firefighters, four months prior to Hang Up, officers Malloy and Reed were at Rampart (hospital) in The Wedsworth-Townsend Act (1972), that series' pilot movie. Pete & nurse Dixie McCall even had a flirtation that suggested more crossover appearances would be forthcoming. In this episode, there was no interaction between the police officers and the paramedics, they just miss seeing each other coming out of treatment rooms at Rampart.
The '68 gold Mustang with white vinyl top seen in the background of many episodes appears again. This time it's seen parked on the street in front of a store as Reed and Malloy are driving at night checking pet shops for the missing child.
The station wagon (whose rear tailgate is used as a command post) has a hose connected to the tailpipe.
Since the vehicle's engine was running (to power the radio and keep the battery from dying) a hose vented the exhaust away from the officers standing at the tailgate.
