"The Beast" is a usually well-done episode of Adam-12, but it has an actress and an old police car featured.
The actress? Donna Douglas, a year or so after her signature role on The Beverly Hillbillies had ended. This time, she plays the wife of a well-to-do banker who's complaining of a prowler, who turns out to be a former owner of the house. Donna Douglas is more than just Ellie Mae, as she proved in a very memorable 1960 episode of The Twilight Zone, and she proves it here. She's as far removed from a hillbilly, as there's no trace of a Southern accent here.
As per the car? Officers Reed and Malloy have to drive a 1968 Plymouth Satellite, similar to what they drove in Season 1. Their work shift is punctured by various malfunctions that result in trips to the police garage. In the end, Pete Malloy prematurely retires the car, just an hour or so before it's taken out of service!
Overall, a rewarding episode with a fine guest star!
