This is the first of 12 episodes that had Rufus Cruickshank replacing Archie Duncan in the role of Little John. Duncan's Little John wig, beard and costume were worn by Cruickshank to obscure the substitution.
Archie Duncan was injured when a horse bolted toward spectators, mostly children. He grabbed the bridle, stopping the horse, but the cart it was pulling ran over him causing a fractured kneecap and cuts and bruises. He received the Queen's Commendation for Brave Conduct and £1,360 in damages from Sapphire films. He was out of work for 12 episodes.
