A Village Wooing
Prismark1025 June 2023
Wat Longfellow (Leslie Phillips) a runaway serf who has joined Robin Hood's outlaws but he has no fight in him.

He is in love but she doesn't want him. The woman in the village is Winifred, a recent widow and thus available to marry again.

As she has her own farm, Bailiff Baldwin (Donald Pleasence) has shown an interest in Widow Winifred. By confiscating her things so she cannot pay the rent, forcing her to marry him.

Robin Hood sets out to help Wat Longfellow to get it together with Winifred but he is a drip.

It is a silly comedic episode, Phillips is good as the lovelorn Longfellow. So is Pleasance as the cunning Baldwin, citing rules to confiscate goods and chattels from the widow.

It is all too inept, Robin Hood should be cutting down Bailiff Baldwin to size for making Widow Winifred's life a misery in order to marry him.
