- Synopsis - Ghost Wolf Open scenes show loggers cutting down timber, preparing for debarking and transport of logs to the mill, with the foreman Garvin calling Perry White ready to make excuses for cutting the production due to personnel leaving. White will have no part of the excuses, demands production is back to quota in a week, or hand in resignation, that is final. Days pass, Garvin calls again, telling Perry a werewolf has everyone scared and the crew is leaving. Perry assembles his reporters to go to the Lone Pine Timber Co. the Daily Planet owns and find out the reason everyone is leaving. Perry talks about the rumors of a werewolf. The three reporters leave for Oregon and the Timber Co., taking plane to train, when Clark notices the trestle to the bridge over the upcoming gorge have been cut away just waiting for the train to pass and plummet to the ground. Superman saves the train from crashing by holding up the supports while the train passes, afterward the bridge collapses. Lois has to get her dig in with Clark about his lack of concern when their lives were in jeopardy. Clark is discussing the sabotaged trestle with Garvin explaining someone knew they were coming. Garvin puts Lois up in the time keeper quarters and Clark and Jim get to pick anyone of the bunks where the loggers stay. Lois hears a wolf, bars the door, secures the window, retires for the night, a full grown German Shepard jumps in the window, stars growling and Lois starts screaming, as everyone comes to the rescue of Lois. This visit by the wolf or dog prompts Lois to move to the bunk house with men. Time to freshen up down by the stream when Lois again is surprised by the animal. She screams and faints everyone comes running, no evidence of any animal tracks, back to the bunk house where Clark insists on going by himself to have a look around. Lois is miffed so she asks Olsen to join her in another scouting party. Jacques is starting the woods on fire, Lois and Jim are not successful seeking safe ground from the forest fire, and Superman appears, gets the two reporters to a safe area, while he attends to the fire. Jacques clubs Garvin, picks up his rifle, Babette shows up with the dog, Jacques accuses Garvin of stealing Babette's father's timberland, Garvin says that is a lie, all the timberland was willed to her after he died of pneumonia in Seattle. Garvin deposited the funds himself in Babette's name. Jacques had big plans to marry Babette, claiming the timber belonged to him. Superman appears, Superman takes the rifle from Jacques, bends it, punches out Jacques, saving the dog from being killed. Superman gets some telephone wire from Garvin, bares the ends, mounts the spool, takes off to make a connection to divert the lightning bolt to strike the wire and bring the rain to put out the fire. The rains come putting out the fire while everyone is safe, well, except Clark walking in, soaked, wishing Superman had a way to make the rain stop.
