- Synopsis - Treasure of the Incas A professor Laverra asks Lois Lane to bid as much of the $1,000 he gives her for a tapestry at auction as Lois is entering the establishment. The Professor is ordered to walk into the alleyway by Pedro Mendoza, who murders the Professor, then in turn greets Lois on the way out, asking her if she was bidding for him. Mendoza says he a friend to Laverra, and she can give the tapestry to him. No way is she going to release the artwork to another stranger. She gives her address to the stranger as the Daily Planet, saying I can be reached there and drives off. Lois shares her story with Clark and Olsen. Clark gets a call from Mr. White. He is at the morgue where Professor Laverra is, dead. He asks to Lois to bring the tapestry with her as it might support their investigation into the murder. Lois is headed out when Mendoza forces her to give the tapestry up at gunpoint and knocks her out. Clark waiting at the morgue, notices she is on the floor of her office. He changes to Superman and rushes to her rescue, asking Why not let Clark Kent handle this matter? Nothing doing, it's my story and my tapestry. In Mr. White's office, she is trying to talk him into letting her go to Peru to solve the case. Perry is mad but relents and take Olsen with you, he shouts. They're off to Peru. Olsen and Lane go to the Captain of Police in Lima, he is aware of the case, and sends them to Dr. Cuesta, for assistance where they meet up with Clark. Lois shows her immediate displeasure of Clark's presence. Cuesta shows everyone the replica of Lois' tapestry where the cutout star in Lois's reveals the hiding place to the Inca treasures. These treasures are those Dr. Laverra was seeking through the tapestry, for it is the wealth they would bring that would be shared with the poor. Dr. Anselmo is giving a careful eye to the combination of the safe where Dr. Cuesta houses the replica. Dr. Anselmo says he was working on the search for the Inca treasure with Dr. Laverra. Lois has insulting words with Clark as she and Jim go the Police Capitan where an identification is made of the man harming Lois, scarred face and all. The Police Capitan agrees Mendoza is ruthless and has always managed to escape the law. Anselmo offered his vehicle to Lane while she is in Lima. Anselmo breaks into Cuesta's office, takes the replica out, lays Lois's tapestry over it, and calls Mendoza. Lois and Jim are heading out with Anselmo with Clark stating the cutout star is in an area near the town of Madera. Anselmo orders the two reporters out of the car in a remote spot, they fight him, but lose and are abandoned as he drives off. Lois has the idea to follow Anselmo's tire tracks and sure enough they run across his car parked outside a cave. The two reporters meet Mendoza and Anselmo in the cave, are chained up, while dynamite is lit to get to the treasure on the other side of a stone wall, with the reporters nearby. Superman breaks through the wall of stone, tosses the dynamite toward the two thieves, entrapping them, and breaks the chains from Lois and Jim. At the close Lois is still mean to Clark with departing words being only seats left on the plane. Clark doesn't think it will be a problem getting back to Metropolis, wink, wink.
