Quite a grim episode, but still excellent viewing.

Misdirection I would class as my least favourite episode of Afterlife, but such is the standard of the show, that I'd still class it as very, very good. The worst place to put a medium of Alison's talents would be a Nursing home, but low and behold she lands a job caring for the elderly. Finally she gets someone who sees exactly what she does, that makes for some good scenes. The story is pretty good, but the best thing about this episode is the acting. Sharp is excellent once again, but isn't given the script to reach the depths that she has done previously. Rosemary Leach is excellent as Robert's Mum, as is the wonderful Suzie Engel, who makes Ellen a truly interesting, tortured character, without even saying a word. The highlight about this one however, is Mark Benton. I've always been a fan of Benton, he shows what a truly fine straight actor he is here, such a talent, I wish he'd do more drama, he matched the wonderful Sharp scene for scene.

It's quite a depressing episode, most of us know someone who's in elderly care, or suffering with dementia, so the subject matter is always a little uncomfortable to think of, however it did make for dramatic viewing. 8/10
