Joe Bernheim (Lee Bergere) says it all when he tells his wife Adele (Rebecca Welles) - "Life is full of unexplained mysteries." That was his response to the revelation that a blind man actually rendered a newly discovered Pedro Castera painting, thereby affirming Mrs. Bernheim's claim that Castera himself couldn't have done it - he died three years ago! Having gone to art school and studied with the painter, Adele's insistence was met with incredulity by anyone else familiar with 'The Storm'.
Just as big a problem for me as the viewer of this episode was why the local townspeople got so agitated when Adele and her husband started to get close to the truth. The artist's mother had the watercolor rendition of the painting on display in her home, and when Adele confirmed that it was indeed the working model for the oil painting, things started to fall apart for the Bernheims. I'm not clear why Margarita Castera got so agitated that she threw them out of the house while confiding to the local priest "They must not find out".
Well we all found out, that is if you accept the story as presented. Another one step beyond that leaves one with a lot more questions than answers.
