Warning: Spoilers
This episode starts with a scene which could have been taken straight out of a horror film when Sydney has a particularly bloody dream about the mysterious scar on her abdomen. Her mission of the week is to accompany Sloane to China in order to steal a weapon component for the covenant, a component she will switch of course. On the way back Sloane gives Sydney a key and a coded message, a code he could not break, he tells her that she posted it to him the day she reappeared in Hong Kong. Meanwhile Vaughn is tasked with going with his wife to Mexico where somebody has been arrested and claims to have knowledge of who killed Lazarey... Jack must act quickly if he is to protect his daughter.

This was a pretty exciting episode, it is always fun to see just how far Jack will go to protect Sydney, Victor Garber is great in the role.

Warning: Spoilers
I am now one third of the way into Season 3 of "Alias" and I am happy to report that, so far, the rumors of this season being a comedown from the previous two can be dismissed as false: it's generally on the same level, perhaps even better than early Season 1, which had a little too much "downtime" with Sydney's "normal" life. There is very little normal about her life now. She can't even find peace in her sleep anymore, as the striking (and strikingly gory) opening dream sequence demonstrates. This episode is divided into two parts: the first deals with Sloane's first mission as a double agent, accompanied by Sydney, and the second deals with Lauren's investigation into the Russian diplomat's murder and Jack's "moral compromises" in his desperate attempts to hide the truth. Also notable is Sydney's fight scene with two Chinese security guards, which is easily the best of the season so far. My only reservation is that Sydney's face is covered by a mask during the fight, which makes me wonder how much of it was done by her and how much by her stunt double. Because, to be honest, the fight is SO good that I think only professional stunt-persons could pull it off. *** out of 4.
