The way they were
Many questions raised. Why did Gloria look like Shirley Temple at first? Why did Gloria seem to be imitating her father? Why was Archie's chair a different color, and all the furniture arranged differently? We may never know. Another interesting footnote. Priscilla Lopez (as Debbie) had to be the only actress to go braless on this show. Maybe this was some visual confirmation of Archie's low opinion of Debbie. In any case, this episode is alot of fun. Very interesting to see how Gloria and Mike went from mutual dislike to mutual love.

Ok flashback episode
Mike and Gloria recall their first date.
While the wigs and makeup do look a bit ridiculous on Reiner and Struthers, this episode does have some amusing moments. There is a scene of Archie acting more like his old loud self in the flashback sequence. After Gloria mentions her father to Mike for the first time he says "He sounds like a great guy". Archie has a funny "fake suicide" scene when Edith starts talking about THEIR first date.
