Max Kurat who has been sentenced for the physical abuse of Thea Bernried, has been released from prison. He goes to his apartment where he meets his wife Patty with her new boyfriend, Wolfgang Broder. Then he goes to the apartment of the Bernried family where he meets Thea Bernried and apologizes for his crime, the husband of Thea appears and asks Max to go away. Then Max goes to a bar and calls Ludwig Bannat and asks him for money. When Max comes back to his building he is shot down. There are then some suspects: the husband of Thea, the new boyfriend of Patty or Ludwig Bannat who has been blackmailed by Max Kurat.
