Warning: Spoilers
Newspaper Headline: Economy Turns Corner, Falls Down Stairs. A great episode. Not a particular favorite, but am always happy to watch it. After Roger slips into a coma, because of being excoriated by Stan, The Smiths think he dead and then dispose of his body. Whilst the family deals with the loss of their beloved alien, Francine suddenly decides she is an atheist, and Steve disowns his father, Stan. Whilst all of this is happening, Roger wakes up in a landfill, realizing he had gone into stress-induced hibernation and makes the journey home. He decides the travel home as an old lady. And when he goes on a bud he meets an elderly lady who thinks Roger is her best friend. Eventually Roger gets home to his family, and Francine asks him how Heaven was. Since Roger has no idea what Francine is talking about, Haley explains and Roger fakes an entire story. At the end Francine believes in God once again, and thinks he works in mysterious way. A funny episode, overall 7 out of 10.

The Tipping Point

American Dad was a very good concept right from the beginning of this first season, but it took a few episodes for the show to really find its feet. By Roger Codger, the team have taken off.

While Haley's antics in the previous episode are hysterical, it is only when Roger is able to take on a character outside of the Smith household that this show really becomes excellent. The jokes become sharper and the stints become richer.

Stan is forced to let Roger out of the house when stress forces him into a coma, and the alien goes on a surprisingly wild adventure with a bunch of old women. The results must be seen, for words cannot do justice to the sophisticated hysterics and hysteria of this episode.

Overall, Seth McFarlan outdoes himself on the fifth episode of American Dad's first season. Roger Codger raises the bar and sets the standard for what will come later in American Dad.

Roger the Star

Best episode yet.

This time Roger gets his chance to shine as the focal point of the episode. We get to explore his relationship to the Smith family and we even get his origin story from Area 51.

The story is funny and the jokes come rapidly.

Not only is Roger great but even the side characters carry their own weight, the priest and the therapist and the racist old woman.

Reminds me why I remember this show fondly. I'm glad after the mediocre previous episode that my interest in the show has been rekindled!
