The return of Tyr Anasazi
Tweekums31 July 2018
As this episode opens Andromeda comes to the aid of a Commonwealth ship that is being attacked by the Nietzscheans. There are two people on board; Lieutenant Commander Telemachus Rhade and his prisoner... Tyr Anasazi. Tyr escapes with the attackers and Dylan is ordered to bring Rhade back to the Commonwealth. He considers the capture of Tyr to be more important. It emerges that Tyr has aligned the Nietzscheans with The Collectors as he believes they are the best bet to defeat the Abyss. To that end they are seeking the 'Route of Ages'. This is a map of the universe that shows the way to everywhere; including The Abyss.

The highlight of this episode was the return of Keith Hamilton Cobb as Tyr; even now his character is ambiguous... his aim appears to be the same as Dylan but he has chosen a new ally. Steve Bacic also returns as Rhade; a decent enough character who appears about to become a regular member of Andromeda's crew. There are also solid guest performances from Ivar Brogger as Collector Pish Tryan and Sonya Salomaa as Aurelia, the keeper of the Route of Ages. There are plenty of decent action scenes including space battles, a shootout and a fun gaol-break. The Route of Ages was interesting and as we learn more about it there is some good character development for Trance Gemini... to my mind the most intriguing of the main characters. Questions are also raised about the loyalty of another crew member. Overall a fine episode that sets things up nicely for future episodes.
