Andy is shown with a cast on his hand, which is explained as having occurred while bringing in the Gordon boys, but the real reason has been the source of debate among fans for years. In reality, Griffith sprained his wrist when he got angry on the set and put his hand through a wall. The cast is seen in the next episode, as well.
The four actors portraying the Gordon boys appeared several times as other characters in the series. One of them, Robert McQuain, played 11 characters in 14 episodes.
Because he was busy apprehending criminals, Andy wears a handgun and carries a shotgun even though he's known for never carrying either.
Around 4 1/2 minutes into the show, the Gordon brothers grab Otis and pull him toward the cells. As Otis falls into the walls that connect the cells, the wall on the right side moves.
The song Otis sings (sort of) is "The Dipsy Doodle" written by Larry Clinton in 1937. It became a very popular piece during the Swing era, recorded by the likes of Ella Fitzgerald & Chic Webb as well as Tommy Dorsey.
