One of TAGS most off the wall episodes. A treat to see Howard (Jack Dodson) highlighted. Delightful mother Sprague (Mabel Albertson) is AWOL in this one. Some of JD best TAGS work. The whole start to finish island scenes were classic. The cast of characters he meets at the island all nail their parts and perfectly cast. The flashbacks throughout all were tremendous. The scenes of Howard meeting his fellow Islanders at the general store, and the Andy & Bee visit dream are my favorites. Always creepy legendary Harry Dean Stanton gave a stellar performance. Lots of the usual wonderful script holes. Howard didn't check out the place first. He's totally unfamiliar with location of stores, doctors, vital services. Did he even have a phone? A mailing address? Finances pre-internet would be a tall task to transfer money, pay bills and sort in such quick order. Why pick a place so dreadfully isolated? Odd epilogue. Why would Andy, Emmett, Goober, and Howard all be at the filling station late at night after hours?
