Otis and Howard--Quite the Team
Hitchcoc31 December 2019
Putting aside a man who is utterly fixated on alcohol and gets drunk every weekend, this episode had a few high spots. Howard is getting to be a consummate pest, bugging Andy about details and wanting to be one of the gang. The scenes in the shack were pretty decent. The bad guys spin their wheels, not taking an opportunity to escape. The stuff with the water glass is ridiculous but fun.

A funny episode with many holes

Otis Campbell's (Hal Smith) last episode is a stong performance. A huge mistake discontinuing the character buckling to pressure. Could of been many more stellar Otis episodes. No tugging at heart strings or delivering a message here. Just pure zany comedy. Biggest laughs are Andy tripping, and Howard drenching Andy with water intended for Otis. So many script holes. State police were locally involved. Why didn't Andy call them for reinforcements when he went up to the cabin? Same for Howard and Otis when they went? Andy's gun was loaded off the rack but Otis had to search for shells. Why would the well staffed state police involve a one-man police force with roadblocks?

I like the zany Howard episodes where ho loosens up. Bank robberies are a staple in classic sitcoms. They always seem to work very well as did.here.
