The emblem near the left shoulder on the shirt Opie is wearing in the wedding scene is the shield logo of the USA Olympic Team. The 1960 Summer Olympics had just finished a few weeks before the first airing of this episode.
Rose tells Opie she will "visit a lot," but she is never seen again throughout the series.
Rose's new husband, Wilbur Pine, is played by Frank Ferguson, who later in the series played Mr. Foley, the butcher, in "Bargain Day," 'Charles Foley' in "The Case of the Punch in the Nose" and played 'Sam Lindsey' in "Ellie for Council" and "The Beauty Contest."
Barney Fife mentions that he and Andy Taylor are cousins.
Andy and Opie are the only holdovers from The Danny Thomas Show. Frances Bavier was also in that episode but she played a woman named Henrietta. Here, she plays Aunt Bee for the first time.
