Cameos At The Party Save The Story
Well, after four episodes ranging from decent-to-excellent, it looked for awhile like this was the first clunker......but the last six minutes were terrific and saved it. It was the first one-story (22-minutes) episode in the series so far. (Previous programs had been divided into several stories.)
The "plot" here was for the Warner Brothers Studio Psychiatrist, "Dr. Scratchansniff," to make sure that Wakko, Yakko and Dot behave themselves at an important business event. Potential billion-dollar customers from Japan are to be wined and dined and studio chief Mr. Plotz doesn't want our Animaniac threesome to ruin the party and sabotage the business deal. He's afraid they'll act zany. Who, them?! The first half of the story is the doctor trying to teach manners to the three. It should have been funny, but it wasn't. The humor was stupid.
The second half was the party. At first, I got a chuckle out of a couple of quick "cameos" by "Thelma & Louise" and Robert Patrick, who transformed himself so memorably in "Terminator 2," but then nothing much happened until our three stars, who had behaved as asked, were told to leave and got upset about it. Then, the fun began!
For movie fans, the rest of it was trying to guess all the identities of the celebrities at the party. Man, there must have been 25 of them thrown at us in less than five minutes. I got many, but couldn't catch them all.....maybe you can. One thing for sure: you'll have fun trying.
