ONE GOOD MURDER DESERVES ANOTHER!
tcchelsey3 January 2024
A woman's wrath and scorn! Beware!

This is by no means the first episode in the series dealing with a revengeful woman, but it is one of the best. Popular tv actress Lynda Day George plays Brina Douglas, a wealthy woman who is out to get the two men who drove her father to suicide. This is one story where the murderer is as clever as she is daring! The opening scene proves this in spades.

Series producer Robert Sherman, who was behind over 100 episodes, managed to write 15 stories, and this is one of his earliest efforts. To his credit, Sherman was associated with two cult films, KISS ME DEADLY and HUSH, HUSH SWEET CHARLOTTE, where he served as dialogue supervisor. He paints a grim portrait of a lady on a mission.

The cast puts it over the top, principally Edward Power as Gil. A top actor, he had previously co-starred on the tv series, LOVE IS A MANY SPLENDERED THING as Spencer. Everyone's favorite smooth bad guy, Lloyd Bochner, plays Ray. Lynda Day George, a regular on MISSION IMPOSSIBLE, was nominted twice for an Emmy on that series.

She should have gotten a nod for her role here.

Partly filmed at the famous Palm Springs Tennis Club, a desert landmark, billed as the place the rich and famous come to play.

Perfect for a late night. SEASON 4 EPISODE 8 remastered (color) CBS dvd box set.

A double-twist.
planktonrules19 July 2021
The show begins with Brina (Linda Day George) deliberately driving her dune buggy off an embankment with her husband belted in the seat next to her. But Brina escapes unharmed...because this was no accident. Can she get away with killing the man she just married AND why would she do this in the first place?

This is a fair episode of "Barnaby Jones". I say fair only because Brina was an inconsistently written character....smart and conniving in one portion and gullible and a bit dull later. I wish they'd stuck more with this revenge theme, as when the twist came, it actually made the show a bit less interesting. Still, worth seeing.

By the way, at one point in the show a guy says "a wife cannot testify against her husband". This is often misquoted and should be "a wife cannot be FORCED to testify against her husband".
