"Grand Hotel" marks Linda Lavin's third appearance as Det. Wentworth, who is assigned with Wojo to pose as a married couple at a hotel suffering a string of clever robberies. Joe Medalis, from "The Kentucky Fried Movie," is the knowing bellhop, whose French phrase is understood by Wentworth but not Wojo. Meanwhile, the hotel detective (Robert Mandan) brings in a young man (Adam Arkin) who checked in with an underage girl, charging him with third degree rape; it turns out that the couple have been going together for a year, hope to be married soon, and were just looking for a little privacy. Queenie Smith (first of two) plays the not so innocent hotel maid, and Beatrice Colen (first of two) plays a witness to a theater robbery, who ends up spending the entire day looking over mug shots of possible suspects. Arnold Soboloff (first of two) plays Lenny Kelso, known at the 12th as 'The Confessor'- 24 confessions, no convictions. After Wentworth mistakes him for the theater bandit, he decides to try confessing to a real crime: stealing a poodle! Fish confesses he's been eating prunes for 40 years, as good an explanation as any for his weak constitution. He once gave a girl a necklace made of prune pits, her mother accusing him of being into voodoo! Missing from this episode are Harris, Yemana (fourth straight), and Barney's wife Liz (fifth straight).
