- TriviaWhile "Split Personality disorder" may have been the term used to describe the illness suffered by Charles/Lennie/Neal in the 1970s, it is now known as "dissociative identity disorder" (DID), (previously known as "multiple personality disorder" (MPD), and colloquially known as "split personality disorder").

Stefan Gierasch and Arny Freeman
"Power Failure" features Steve Landesberg's fourth appearance as Dietrich, here filling in for the absent Harris, Nick tells Barney the coffee's perfect (Barney: "I'm not looking for perfect, I'll settle for safe!"). Paul Lichtman (last of five) makes his fourth and final appearance as custodian Beckman, now dealing with a power failure that puts out an entire city block. Fish complains of insomnia keeping him awake for the past week (Dietrich sympathizes before confessing, "I sleep like a log!"). Arny Freeman plays jewelry store owner Mr. Rosten, who accidentally takes a shot at Yemana, not knowing who's there in the dark (he later appeared in "Good-Bye, Mr. Fish"). Wojo brings in mild mannered Charles Foster Keller (Stefan Gierasch, 5 episodes), who defies 25 witnesses by proclaiming himself innocent of assaulting a bookie. Once in the cage, his split personality emerges in the tough Lennie (in the wake of Sally Field's SYBIL), who DOES confess to the bookie beating (further on, he becomes prissy Neil). Lennie's racetrack winnings pique Nick's curiosity, despite Wojo's doubts (Wojo: "split personality, that's a lot of baloney isn't it?" Yemana: "I don't listen to HIM, but HE makes a lotta sense!"). Dr. Fitzgerald (Susan Brown) arrives to discuss Keller's problem with Capt. Miller, and sparks fly as she becomes unusually appreciative of his disarming nature (Barney: "you'll have to excuse me, I don't seduce well!" Dr. Fitzgerald: "do you seduce at all?").
