The beginning of the episode where a rejuvenated and insane Ra's Al Ghul rises back to life from the Lazarus Pit is taken from the ending of "Batman" (Vol.1) #243 from August 1972 titled, "The Lazarus Pit". However, this episode is primarily an adaptation of the story from "Batman" (Vol.1) #244 from September 1972 titled, "The Demon Lives Again". Both stories written by Denny O'Neil with art by Neal Adams & Dick Giordano.
This episode's teleplay was done by Len Wein with a story by Denny O'Neil and Wein. O'Neil originally wrote the comic story from "Batman" (Vol. 1) #244, "The Demon Lives Again" which is what this episode is mostly adapted from.
This episode is included as a bonus cartoon from the DC Comics Vault on the blu-ray release of Batman: The Doom That Came To Gotham (2023).
