This little odd-ball drama is about one very unusual day in the making of a low-budget horror film. It details the psychological breakdown of the actor who plays the monster called The Dummy. Completely enclosed in a ridiculous rubber suit, the man has zero self-esteem. Matters are only made worse when he realises that the actor who stole his wife is on set that day.
This is a nice behind-the-scenes snap-shot of the movie making process. Like you might expect from a British drama it's well acted from a good script from Nigel Kneale. What makes it interesting though is in the way it utilises it's premise in order to combine psychological drama with B-movie monster movie mayhem, while retaining an impressive level of authenticity. The overall approach is certainly quite original and it does manage to throw in some laughs too. Altogether, this is a fine little film.
