Scenes from "Elly Starts to School" were released as a View Master 3-D set on "The Beverly Hillbillies". The 21 scenes were on three discs. Donna Douglas was pictured in fourteen photographs, Buddy Ebsen in ten, Irene Ryan in nine. Max Baer Jr. was only in four photographs, Nancy Kulp in three while guest stars Joanna Barnes (in seven) and Doris Packer (in four) were more prominent. The View Master set was in print for approximately eight years.
This was the first of 15 appearances by Sharon Tate, although most of them were as a different character, Secretary Janet Trego.
When Elly May arrives at the finishing school carrying a bucket of possum in gopher gravy, Cynthia Fenwick plays it off as a fashion trend, stating "Next week Jackie Kennedy will have one." Jacqueline Kennedy was the wife of President John F. Kennedy. "Elly starts to school" aired October 16, 1963; sadly President Kennedy was assassinated 37 days later on November 22, 1963.
This show's copyright has expired and it is now in the public domain.
The episode title, "Elly Starts To School," is grammatically incorrect, but intentionally so, as it mimics the Clampetts' regional argot.
