Heath unexpectedly meets beautiful Libby Keane, an old flame who is now married to an abusive husband. The two meet for dinner to talk over old times. When they return to her quarters the husband arrives and angrily pulls a gun on Heath. Shots are fired and the husband is killed. Heath claims self defense. The local DA charges murder. There is a trial and things look bad for Heath until Jarod produces evidence that it was Libby who had shot the husband so that she could marry Heath. Confronted with the evidence at the local sheriff's office, Libby panics, grabs a pistol, and attempts to escape. Shots are fired and Libby is fatally wounded. As Heath holds her, Libby admits her guilt and then dies in Heath's arms. Case closed. Life returns to normal in the Big Valley.
