- Burnside arrives to investigate a murder which looks like part of a series of male rapes.
- A body found by the Thames is identified as a gay man and has Sun Hill police concerned that someone is targeting homosexuals. Following news of the latest attack, a man comes to the police station to correct his previous statement made to the police. He retracts his statement about a mugging and reveals that he was raped by a masked assailant. Another man, who works as a cab driver in the area, also comes to the station to report that he saw the murdered man on the night of his death.
D.S. Stanton and D.C.I. Burnside begin an investigation which leads them to suspect a deliveryman. D.S. Boulton and D.C. Proctor are sent undercover to follow the suspect, but lose him the first time round. When a warrant is issued they search his home but find nothing incriminating. Stanton begins to doubt his guilt when she receives additional information that leads her to the cab driver who made a statement to the police. She discovers that he's very disturbed and obsessed with war paraphenalia.
Meanwhile Burnside finds himself in trouble when he goes it alone and ends up in the cab driver's taxi. He manages to give some information about his location before his cell phone reception breaks up, which Stanton uses to track him down just before the cab driver attacks him with a knife.
