Maid to Fire
JordanThomasHall12 December 2018
A lovely, affable young lady named Lynn Wyatt (Judi Meredith) comes to the Bumstead residence looking for a job as a maid. Blondie likes the idea, but knows they couldn't afford it, until she realizes she could go back to work at her old job. Lynn only wants food and shelter, and to feel welcome. Lynn actually has a husband, Bobby (Don Hayden, "My Little Margie") who finds her after they've had a fight. He is wealthy and wants to give her everything, but she wants to prove that she can care for him herself. They briefly make up before having another fight over her lack of housekeeping skills. Lynn makes a mess of the Bumstead's dinner. Blondie's boss Harry (familiar character actor Frank Wilcox) is attracted to her and mistakes an affectionate dog nuzzling his neck for her. He kisses her when she enters the room and Blondie slaps him and quits. Now they can't afford Lynn. Meanwhile, Alexander reads in the newspaper where a woman matching Lynn's description is posing as a maid after a jewel theft. The family suspects her, especially after mishearing a conversation she has with Bobby. Dagwood plots how to capture them both to get a reward.
