Don Quixote of the plains
bkoganbing18 September 2013
The accent is on comedy in this Bonanza episode with Henry Jones as a slightly addled old senior citizen roaming the plains in armor on a charger looking to slay dragons and defeat villains. He chases off some bandits led by Rudolfo Acosta that were attempting to rob a stage that Adam Cartwright is a passenger on. Only problem is that Pernell Roberts is all that's left to tell the tale and Sheriff Charles Watts is having trouble believing him.

Nice to see that this Bonanza episode comes right out of the medieval classic Don Quixote. And while Jones doesn't tilt windmills he does get his lance caught in a runaway stagecoach in a very funny sequence.

This is one to watch if you're in need of a good laugh.

For once Adam is ridiculous.

In this comical, side-splitting episode, on the way to returning home to Virginia City from somewhere, the stagecoach Adam is riding is in is stopped and robbed by Mexican bandits. When Adam is about to be shot by those mean men, along comes a knight in shining armor, riding a horse and carrying a lance, who pursues those bandits; I personally liked Henry Jones in the role of the bogus Sir Lancelot, the Middle Ages knight. He repeats this deed many times.

Of course, Adam could have been dreaming. But was he? Definitely, Henry Jones is convincing, and seems to outshine all the other cast members in this very hilarious episode.
