Bob Barker, in a very rare character role early in his entertainment career, would of course later become most famous as the long-term host of The Price is Right (1972) which would always end with his suggestion that the audience have their pets spayed and neutered. He would also share one other credit with Lorne Greene, namely the 1981 CBS Tournament of Roses Parade (1981). On his own nature documentary series New Wilderness (1982), Greene gave his reasoning for his dissent from the spaying/neutering practice, questioning its effectiveness against overpopulation in that just one virile male cat or dog could impregnate their entire local stray fertile female populations anyway, and he believed the procedure removed some of the animals' main joy in living.
