Bones:A Boy in a Bush
Scarecrow-8822 November 2010
Warning: Spoilers
In this incredibly sad, heart-wrenching episode of Bones, a child's corpse is found on the outskirts of a mall and it appears he was the victim of sexual abuse(a hereditary trait regarding brittle bone disease shows that the killer pressed on the victim's chest, crushing the bones so that he could not cry out for help). We learn as the show progresses that Brennan was an orphaned teenager and that Hodgins' wealthy parents actually "own" the Jeffersonian institute due to their heavy contributions in funding(and that he wants nothing to do with a luncheon orchestrated by the shareholders). Because of the difficult nature of this case, Angela is contemplating leaving the institute and Zack is having a hard time concentrating without dwelling on the fact that the skeletal remains were of a little boy. We learn that the victim, like his foster brothers, was also an orphan, "kidnapped" by a woman who could not have children, Margaret(Natacha Roi) after she found the boy in another room, the baby's junkie mother dead with a needle sticking out of her arm. To get to the truth, Booth will have to go beyond his principles in regards to following the letter of the law in order to find out what the identity of the killer(one of the foster boys, Shawn(Paul Butcher)knows the truth, and is holding it inside). Booth steps up for Hodgins at the end and helps deliver on a promise Brennan made to Shawn in regards to Margaret. Solid episode which develops the characters nicely.

Daed boy
ctomvelu-124 December 2008
B&B investigate the death of a young boy who disappeared from a mall and whose body turns up in a nearby field. It takes a bit, but the team realizes he was crushed to death in some manner they have trouble understanding. Then it's a case of figuring out who grabbed the kid from the mall. The killer is given away early, unfortunately. The twist to the episode is that the boy came from a family with a single mom and two other boys -- all of them foster kids. And this has a serious bearing on the case, as Dr. Brennan intuits. She reveals quite a surprise to Booth near the end. A very depressing episode. A nice touch at the end had the boss telling one of the team, who is thinking of quitting, how valuable her job is to the team.

The System
Hitchcoc7 January 2023
This one is more moving. It involves the decomposing body of a small child found in some bushes. Nearly all of him has been eaten away by predators and insects. This leads the principle characters to look at things differently. Brennan maintains a cold detachment, but we can see that there is some undercurrent going on. We are let in on a secret later. The guys are all in an interesting place. Booth is a by the book guy when it comes to law and he must deal with that when it comes to the eventual placement of children. Zack is his usually nerdish self, trying to figure out what everyone is up to. We also find out a secret about Jack. Angela is doubting her reason to be doing what she does. This is the best episode so far.

And there's the Booth I know and Love!

This was an excellent episode! We discover who Dr. Hodgins really is. We also see the chemistry grow between B & B! Booth is a really, really nice guy. He may try to sound rough and tough, but what he did for Dr. Brennan and Dr. Hodgins brought tears to my eyes.

The story of the little boy's death was sad. This story shows gray areas of the law - it's not always easy to judge right and wrong. B & B were both sensitive as they helped this family come to terms with what happened. Booth gives Brennan a special gift when he fulfills her promise to a little boy.

When Booth sees Brennan in her formal dress, he can't even tells her what he thinks. Of course, noble Booth is in a relationship and cannot say too much, but his eyes say it all!
