Long time series director Oscar Rudolph handled this episode, and got the right expressions from the kids on your typical Friday night at home alone.
Rudolph directed many sitcoms, though BATMAN was his pet project, with all the Pows and Biffs.
Today's problem; who handles the babysitting
duties? There's some conflicts; Mike and Carol have plans for dinner and a show and Alice is hanging curtains at Sam's place. Greg and Marsha appear to be next in line for household duties... so why not give 'em a try?
Of course, before anyone goes anywhere, there's a lot of show prep. Mike trains Bobby on the right and wrong way to open the door to strangers, there's some concern about Cindy's sniffles and Alice begins to have second thoughts about going anywhere.
Everyone finally clears the house and the gang enjoys a typical weekend night inside; Jan yakkin' away on the phone while Bobby, Cindy and Peter are watching some sort of creature feature on tv (watch their faces as they're really into this one). Greg and Marsha stand guard --and then come noises outside. This is where it gets fun... without giving too much away...
And what good would any scary movie on tv be without noises around the house, right?
Curious footnote. Alice is going to hang bright yellow curtains at Sam's apartment? Do you really think that's his color?
Good stuff from SEASON 2. ABC/Paramount remastered dvd box set.
