Greg, Peter and Bobby stop talking and Marcia shuts her diary closed when Cindy comes by, just in their want for general privacy. However, Cindy believes they are talking or writing about her. With Oliver's help, Cindy goes looking for clues as to what is happening about her behind her back, the only existing record being Marcia's diary, through which she starts reading, but finds nothing of importance about her. Marcia, noticing that her diary is not as she left it, believes Cindy did read through it, and as such plants a trap to prove that she did: with Jan's help, pretend that there is something juicy written in it, and leave Cindy alone in their bedroom. Marcia and Jan do secretly see that Cindy is reading through it. As such, Marcia decides to teach Cindy a lesson by writing a fantastical story in it, that a talent scout, who has seen her photograph, is considering her for a movie role akin to her idol,
Shirley Temple. Cindy believes that Mike's problematic client, Penelope Fletcher, is that talent scout. Cindy's action could jeopardize Mike's lucrative account with Ms. Fletcher.
