Flip and Jenny

Warning: Spoilers
Two children have stowed away on the Sultana and try to steal the crewman's food. It does not go unnoticed.

When caught by the sailors. Flip Purdy and Jenny Purdy (Jane Asher) tell Captain Dan Tempest that they are without a mother and their father has been thrown into jail by his master Lord Hinch (Robert Hardy.)

Their father is an indentured slave but stood up for the children's right to be provided education by Lord Hinch. He is meant to do so for all the offsprings of his indentured labourers but he refuses.

Captain Dan Tempest decides to spring Purdy but he does not want to leave the jail cell. He was happy to make his stand even if it does not work.

However Tempest sees a way out given that Lord Hinch placed a bounty of £500 on his head. What if Purdy could buy his freedom and a piece of land that is his own?

A story that was probably too simple and neat in the end. I was surprised that Lord Hinch actually paid up the reward given Tempest and his crewmates escaped at the end.
