Captain Dan Tempest arrives at an Island to pick up a valuable cargo. It is not valuable goods or commodities. It is just one person a single Scottish Highland Chief.
It is a prison island and many of those incarcerated are Scotsmen. Sent here because they incited rebellion back home for an Independent Scotland.
The Highland Chief tells Captain Tempest that the bagpipe is regarded as the Instrument of War. Scots are forbidden to have one or even play it.
To aid others to leave the island, the Highland Chief plays it and is immediately sentenced to death. Along with his son who came to stop him playing it.
Now Captain Tempest feels compelled to save them. Maybe the sounds of the bagpipes need to ring once more to let others know of rebellion.
Alfred Burke plays British officer Marsh. Getting in some training for his later role as Long John Silver.
Once again an episode written by a blacklisted American writer. It has a spirit of independence about it.
