When Ponch speaks to the PVC truck driver, he mentions the fictional soap opera "The Troubled World" and Bob and Carey. On the immediate prior episode, Name Your Price (1977), Bob, played by Tom Hallick, and Carey, played by Jaime Lyn Bauer, were stopped by Jon and Ponch for a registration violation, yet Ponch made no mention of this to the truck driver.
The CHiPs Wiki site lists Jon Baker's favorite quote as "Take it easy, will you?" and that he has said that to many distressed drivers. As he is walking to the rear of the boat with grease on his hands, Jon touches one of the seats and Getrear says "Take it easy, will you?"
When speaking about the boat, Jon calls Getraer Captain, and Getrear says that reminded him of his Navy days. Ponch reminds Getrear that he was only a Petty Officer 3rd Class. The same year that CHiPs ended (1983), Robert Pine would play Navy Lieutenant Thomas Sullivan Magnum III on Home from the Sea (1983).
