The scene with the Mercedes traffic stop was actually shot at night due to a stunt that had taken far longer than expected. An overpass was used to simulate it being darker during the day.
The calendar in Jon's apartment is for the wrong year (1977). We know it was 1978 since in Hustle (1977) the date of the violation issued by Poncherello was 9-10-77.
At the end of the dirt bike chase, the background is noticeably darker. This is due to the scene being filmed at night due to the accidental destruction of one of the motorcycles and the cast having to wait for a replacement.
As seen in other episodes, when an officer needs to spell out words or give letters over the radio, they use words (example, Charlie for the letter 'C'). However when unit "7 Adam" was pulling over a cattle truck, he spelled out the license plate "VN6862" using letters instead of words.
Highway Patrol officers do not use pencils for reports, since this would allow them to be altered later.
The fire truck entering the freeway was recycled from Green Thumb Burglar (1977), complete with a brown Triumph TR-6 in the adjacent lane.
When Jon's friend the nurse calls him from the hospital during the party, Jon is speaking on a payphone. Why would Jon have a payphone within his apartment? Even if he happens to be speaking to her on a payphone in the hallway, why would she call a hallway payphone instead of his direct phone number?
During the drunk driver chase scene a camera can be seen mounted to the left side of Ponch's motorcycle.
The rustlers are shown stealing the cattle on a side road with a freeway in the background. When Jon and Poncherello respond, the call is that livestock are on the freeway. Upon arrival, the cattle are on the same side road, not the freeway.
When Baricza radios in after stopping the cattle rustlers, he says he is on the southbound San Diego Freeway (I-405) at the Mulholland exit, yet the freeways signs indicate clearly that he's on the Foothill Freeway (I-210) at the Foothill exit. When Ponch responds to Baricza's request for backup, he says that he and Jon are northbound on the San Diego Freeway at Sunset, yet when they arrive, they are heading in the same direction as Baricza was, meaning they couldn't have arrived from the opposite direction.
Jon says his birthday is not for "a couple months" and points to the calendar, which is for January (albeit the wrong year). In Cry Wolf (1978), after getting his elbow x-rayed, Jon's birthday is shown to be in July or August, since he is a Leo. (Larry Wilcox was born in August and is a Leo).
