Jonelle Allen is sensational.

Warning: Spoilers
Jonelle Allen is absolutely mindblowing in this episode.

From the moment she appears on-screen you are captivated by her acting.

A realistic and gritty yet 100% gripping performance that shows how something like rape can affect so many different parts of your life. Endless court dates and constant time off work leading to loss of job. The ludicrous thinking that victims must behave a certain way or they won't be believed. Loss of partner. Depression. Fear. Hatred. Despair.

So much of what went on in this episode still happens today in 2019 - 36 years after this episode was first broadcast, the episode's message still relevant all over the world.

Of course, Cagney & Lacey isn't all doom and gloom as you get to witness the loving family Mary Beth has and the lust for living that Christine has. The flipside showing that for every happy person out there, sadly someone, somewhere is suffering.

Working my way through the complete Cagney & Lacey box set which obviously isn't always a laugh-a-minute but it is full of great dramatic storylines (with more than enough lighter moments to balance things out), amazing acting from a magical cast and has very good direction and production values. Still must see TV even all these years later.

My only (minor) complaint is that we don't get to see "what happens next" to the victim.
